Dries Beljon

Dries is a co-founder of LEAN LAWYERS and works on B Corp certification, climate positive business, ESG and sustainability more broadly.

He grew up in the south of the Netherlands, moved to Utrecht and has lived in Zeist for several years now with his partner and their three children. He advises large and mid-sized businesses and organisations on litigation (often with a financial angle), corporate law and above all employment law, his first love.

In employment and corporate law he acts for the boards of large and larger companies as well as for staff at management and board level. He also enjoys advising boards and works councils on employee participation matters.

In (financial) litigation he advises asset managers, representative bodies such as the Consumentenbond and various foundations, corporate finance firms and other parties involved on duty of care issues, financial law, compliance with banking and securities law and ordinary civil proceedings.

Dries also ran the 2015 case before the European Court of Justice on the unit-linked insurance scandal (Nationale Nederlanden v Van Leeuwen), and from 2017 to 2021 sat on the board and then chaired the Dutch Association of Debt Recovery and Litigation Lawyers (VIA).
