After studying in Nijmegen and almost 14 years at one of The Hague's larger firms, Mathijs joined LEAN LAWYERS in September 2025.
Within the wider field of corporate law, Mathijs focuses on mergers and acquisitions and everything that comes with them: share and asset deals, investments and financing, partnerships and joint ventures. He enjoys working with founders, owner-managers and investors (PE, VC and family offices) through every stage of a deal.
Mathijs is pragmatic, gets to the heart of a matter quickly and is never shy of a creative solution.
His personal interests and his work meet in his steadily broadening ESG practice and in his role on the board of energy cooperative Haagse Stroom. Mathijs has a particular interest in impact investing, the energy transition and sustainability generally.
