Proud that we are a B Corp!
Since February 2023 LEAN LAWYERS may themselves a Certified B Corporation to name, or rather one B Corp.
Companies with a B Corp certificate voluntarily strive for the highest standards in the areas of social and environmental performance, social responsibility and transparency. B Corps are companies that want to make a difference in society and truly practice corporate social responsibility (CSR).
One B Corp certification Aren't you getting yourself a packet of butter? It is an extremely intensive process, in which the organization must continue to improve and is reassessed every three years.
Because the B Corporation certification is issued by a third party (B Lab, an American non-profit organization), has become a globally known performance standard for companies that meet the highest standards in the field of social sustainability and environmental performance.
We undertake as LEAN, therefore not alone. 🌱 climate-positive, but take on as a B Corp the responsibility to contribute to a better world and use ‘business as a force for good‘.
LEAN LAWYERS, B Corp certified
Innovative, customer-oriented solutions. Create meaningful, positive impact.
At LEAN LAWYERS, it is our mission to create a meaningful, positive impact for both society and the environment. We are committed to innovative, client-centered legal solutions that empower our clients and contribute to a more sustainable and fairer future.
We take our responsibility as a climate-positive law firm seriously: we measure and reduce our CO2 emissions annually and offset more than 100% of our carbon footprint, while we actively inspire others in our sector to do the same. Our work is based on the 'create-measure-learn' principles, through which we guarantee that every service we deliver adds value for people, the planet and progress.
As part of our commitment to positive change, we are co-initiators of B Local Utrecht (in wording), a regional network that connects and strengthens B Corps and like-minded companies in the Utrecht region to create greater impact together. In addition, we are the initiator and founder of CO2alition Netherlands, a platform that supports businesses and organizations in collaboration regarding the transition to a low-carbon economy by sharing best practices and knowledge, developing strategies, and taking concrete actions to reduce CO2 emissions.
Our mission includes:
-
A commitment to positive social impact by supporting clients and communities with accessible, transparent, and fair legal services, and by developing new standards of accountability within the legal sector.
-
A commitment to a positive environmental impact by operating in a climate-positive way, reducing and offsetting our emissions, and by developing services and initiatives—such as B Local Utrecht and CO2alition Nederland—that directly contribute to the climate and the broader environment.
We believe that the law should be simple, impactful, and a force for good—both for our clients and for the world around us.
What do B Corps do?
We are transforming the world economy for the benefit of all people, communities and our planet.
The current economic system still often places attention on short-term profit above long-term value; I above we; now above the future; injustice above justice; profit above people and the planet.
But it doesn't have to be that way. The B Corp movement, led by the nonprofit organization B Lab, has a positive impact on nearly 500,000 employees at more than 6,000 companies in more than 150 sectors and 89 countries. Think of large well-known companies such as Patagonia, SPA, Ben & Jerry’s, Fairtrade (Original) in Triodos Bank, but also local (more local) companies such as Dille & Kamille, Swapfiets, Moyee Coffee, Hak, Mr. Marvis, Ace & Tate in Seepje.
Together we transform the world economy for the benefit of all people, communities and our planet.
How it works
- B Corps devote the same amount of attention to their impact in the area of people, society and the environment as to their financial return.Business as a Force of Good’, they also call this.
- B Corps must also for example their jto modify the legal structure and statutes, so that they are legally obliged to take into account the consequences of their decisions for all stakeholders: the team, the customers, the suppliers, the shareholders, the community and the environment.
We have been doing this as LEAN LAWYERS since our start in 2016, and we improved that by going climate-positive in business, but we have now also taken on the legal obligation ourselves.
- The quality mark becomes since 2006 published by the American non-profit organization B Lab. B Lab assesses your organization's policy, activities and goals in the areas of people, society and the environment. You commit yourself as an organization to making a positive impact on the world, instead of polluting it and acting unethically.
B Corps measure their success by more than just financial profit: Social and environmental gain is at least as important.During the certification process Are you, as a company, evaluated on roughly five pillars, namely governance, customers, people, the environment and society.
Fun fact – there are beginning 2023 approx. 6,000 B Corps that all must score at least 80 out of 200 points to become and remain a B Corp. An average company without B Corp Certification scores about 50 points. How many points did we score as LEAN LAWYERS in our first certification round? One a solid 88 points and we rank among the best-performing legal service providers worldwide.
Our dream? In the next certification round in 2026 to achieve more than 100 points and then slowly build up to a score such as for example. the Dutch Tony Chocoloney whether the American Patagonia. Patagonia is the founder of the B Corp Movement. She achieved no less than a score of 151 points in 2023. How do we get there? A little better every day, we've been calling that the create-measure-learn principle since we started 😉
Why is all of this so important?
Our standards for business performance are comprehensive, complete, and transparent. B Lab Measure the impact of the company on all stakeholders. employees, suppliers, the society and the environment. Unlike traditional organizations, certified B Corporations feel obliged to weigh the impact of their decisions, not only in the interest of their shareholders, but in the interest of all other stakeholders.
B Corp accreditation is not only important for us, but also in general because it opens a lot of doors. We make this with it. part of a global movement, whereby the affiliated companies not only look at short-term profits, but rather at the impact that can be made in the long term. The more companies join, the better the world becomes. This is, of course, still only the beginning. Our mission to change the legal landscape drives us and has grown bigger and stronger over the years.
