On a student placement at LEAN LAWYERS you join a growing team out to change the legal landscape, guided by Eric Ries’ LEAN Startup philosophy. “Find the Value, Root the Waste” is what we stand for. Here you add value to the firm, to our clients and to society.
Are you innovative, enterprising and passionate? Would you rather see something other than the traditional legal profession and help shape a fresh, successful view of where the law is heading? Then you’ll have plenty of scope here, student placement or not.
You get every chance to see day-to-day practice up close, grow both professionally and personally, and take the opportunities in front of you with both hands.
These are the areas of law we mainly work in:
- corporate law,
- general law of obligations,
- insolvency law,
- employment law,
- (financial) liability law,
- landlord and tenant law and
- civil procedure.
We're always on the lookout for people with LEAN DNA. No hierarchy here, no needless overhead. We give our people room for creative ideas and encourage the out-of-the-box solution. Ideas and solutions that make clients and contacts happier, and all of us with them. On your own, and as part of a team.
We call it ‘law made simple’. Nothing more, nothing less.
So what is LEAN DNA?- We believe shorter is usually better;
- But the advice we give is advice you can rely on;
- We're not afraid to make choices;
- We talk expectations through and we stick to them (a promise is a promise);
- We're not led by convention or set patterns, and
- We're professional, each in our own way.
Who are you?
We're growing fast, so for our Utrecht office we're looking for a legal intern with the following qualities:
- You're at the placement stage of your law degree (HBO or university);
- You've got a good head on your shoulders, ambition and social skills;
- You speak and write excellent Dutch (and preferably English too);
- Your main interest is private law, with an emphasis on employment and corporate law, insolvency law, financial law and/or civil procedure;
- You look beyond what is legally correct to find the best commercial solution, and you care about keeping in close contact with clients.
Have you got talents that have nothing to do with the law? We would love to hear about them. The people in our office also do photography, web design, boxing, cycling, yoga, mindfulness and writing. We like that.
And have you got
- the LEAN DNA?
Then here's what you get
- a culture of constant improvement, in quality and in atmosphere;
- plenty of fun and an excellent work-life balance;
- a market-rate placement allowance;
- a varied and challenging practice;
- a focus on personal development and real room to grow, a career approach very different from the traditional law firms;
- a placement at the law firm that's B Corp certified;
- a great place to work, damn good (veggie) lunches, drinks and fun events from time to time and... of course a strong coffee or a decent cup of tea;
- a law firm that believes in the strength of diversity. Everyone is welcome, whatever their background, identity or beliefs. At LEAN we work at being an inclusive, fair place to work, where every talent can grow and feel heard.
Your work will include researching case law, drafting memos, court documents and correspondence, sitting in on client meetings and, where possible, attending one or more hearings. You'll also lend a hand with running the office.
Fancy getting started at a young, growing firm? Want to take the first steps of your career off the beaten track? Then send us your CV and a good covering letter. We're interested in you as a person above all, but do include your transcripts with your application!
Apply by emailing Janneke Russchen, our operations manager.
Do let us know when you'd like to start and how long for. Who knows, see you soon!
